Stroke Lessons at Swim Gym

20 Minute Classes: starting at $175/month*

Creating more confident swimmers.

Swim Gym offers private after school lessons. Heated indoor pool, classes rain or shine. These lessons focus on introducing, developing, and refining competitive swimming strokes, including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Emphasis is placed on increasing proficiency and technique of the four strokes, as well as building endurance. Personal water safety is also reinforced through swim-float-swim and backstroke.

Our stroke lessons can be taken once a week or twice a week on a monthly basis.

Annual Sign Up Fee
$35 per child

$35 sign up fee is required annually per child and is paid to Swim Gym of Lakewood Ranch.

Monthly Stroke Lesson Tuition
starting at $175 per child

20 minute lessons starting at $175 for once weekly and $350 for twice weekly per month.

Level 1

Incorporating ISR skills with beginning level strokes: back crawl, front crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke. Swimming 3 body lengths with support. Introduction to basics of rotary breathing. Back float for 10-15 seconds. Intro to backstroke start, front flip turn, and streamlined positioning. Intro to surface dive to retrieve submerged objects with support.

Level 2

Developing and building on stroke skills: back crawl, front crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke. Improving rotary breathing skills. Swimming 5 body lengths with or without support. Back float for 30 secs-1 min. Retrieving submerged objects with or without support from surface dive. Developing a backstroke start and front flip turn. Learning streamlined positioning.

Level 3

Mastering stroke skills: back crawl, front crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke. Mastering rotary breathing skills. Swimming 5 body lengths without support. Back float for 1 min. Retrieving submerged objects without support from surface dive. Swimming with streamlined positioning. Mastering backstroke start, and Front flip turn.

What To Know Before You Arrive

Students skilled in basic survival swim techniques can begin to learn the four competitive strokes. We teach freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly while continuing to reinforce water safety skills. Emphasis is placed on increasing proficiency and technique of the four strokes, as well as building endurance.Lessons can begin any month based on our availability and your scheduling needs. However, a prompt registration will avoid your child being waitlisted.

Complete the Infant Self-Rescue Registration

Your child needs to be enrolled in the National Registration for Infant Self-Rescue classes. Without it, your child will not be able to enter the pool. The fee of $105 per child and is not collected by Swim Gym of Lakewood Ranch.

Bring 3 Towels

Please bring 3 towels to every lesson. The towels will create a clean, dry surface for your child to lie on that will limit his or her exposure to the damp pool deck, which could potentially harbor germs.

Bring 2 Cloth Swim Diapers

Dress your child in 2 layered washable (non-disposable) swim diapers. These are required if your child has not been potty trained for more than 6 months. Remember that you can use the gift code that you’ll receive in your National Registration approval from ISR to order a swim diaper online at www.infantswim.com or can they can be purchased at Swim Gym of Lakewood Ranch.

Come on an Empty Stomach

Your child should not have anything to eat or drink for 2 hours prior to their scheduled lesson.
